In January 2009, by the decision of the meeting of the founders of the International Humanitarian University and the Academic Council of it, a medical institute was established, which also included a medical college. The first license in the field of knowledge of pharmacy for the preparation of junior specialists in this specialty was obtained for 25 people. The specialty “Technology of perfumery and cosmetic products” was opened. The educational process was based on the approved training programs of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of Ukraine. The first intake was made in the 2010-2011 academic year, the number of students was 76 people.

In 2011, the license enrollment for the training of a junior specialist was increased to 100 people and received a new license to prepare a bachelor in Pharmacy for 50 people. In the 2011-2012 academic year, the number of students increased to 170 people.

According to the curriculum, several areas were formed: general and clinical pharmacology, technology of drug production, medical chemistry, biology and pharmacognosy. From the first days of the medical institute and college, they were led by Peklina G.P., who became the first director of the Odessa Medical Institute and the Medical College of the International Humanitarian University. Peklina Galina Petrovnab MD, professor,her teaching experience in higher education  is more than 30 years, the author of 163 scientific and methodological works, 8 inventions and 8 rationalization proposals. The basis of the teaching staff of the institute and the college were associate professors and candidates of science.
